REGISTRATIONS ARE NOW CLOSED FOR THIS WORKSHOP. PLEASE CONTACT THE BECIR IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS. THANK YOU.

Are you fully aware of the legalities of hiring and managing employees from your business?
If not, read on!

This 2 hour workshop will cover recruitment and the managing of staff (with a generational awareness), the importance of fairness in exiting employees as well as the legal framework of exiting staff as well as the changes in legislation for small business.

You will also leave with tools and tips such as a recruitment checklist, an interview styles summary, some Do’s and Don’ts of Interview questions, performance management tips and much more.

This is a must attend for small business owners as well as anyone responsible for hiring and the managing of staff.

Key Learning Outcomes:

  • Identify sources of information regarding the legal frameworks in place for Hiring, Managing and Exiting staff.
  • Have a clear overview on managing staff including the process & pitfalls to be aware of.
  • Character and Capabilities vs. Job Knowledge and Skills.
  • The Do’s and Don’ts of reference checking. Conducting reference checking is essential to acquiring the best new talent for your organisation. A quality and timely reference check reveals current or potential star performers. We will look at the best ways to maximise the information gathering process and reveal some “danger signs” along the way.
  • The management tools that make up an effective performance management system and how to use them.
  • Retaining the right people is every manager’s responsibility.
  • Learn how to keep out of court by being aware of anti-discrimination laws as they relate to recruitment practices. You will learn which types of questions are illegal (due to Privacy and Anti-Discrimination legislation). Understand what direct and indirect discrimination is and learn that by innocently asking the wrong question you could end up in court.
  • Stipulate the importance of fairness in exiting staff from your business.
